a new year

we're already into our third week of school. we started as a year-round school this year. my class is off to a great start, as is our school. we have many exciting new grants and programs this year. along with a few of my colleagues, i wrote a grant during the summer...as a result, we now have 32 ipads for our students to use at school! i'm so excited to begin using the ipads this week with my students. we will be able to accomplish so much and i know i'll be able to reach many of  my struggling students with the ipads.

my class this year is incredibly tender and loving. they are kind to each other and demonstrate an intuitiveness that i have not seen in previous classes. they are responsible and still quite young for third graders.

i have already fallen madly in love with this class. with their creativity, humor, intelligence, and desire to learn. they are great, in a nutshell.

this afternoon, on our way to the last class of the day, we were walking in the hallway. b was at the front of the line. at one point, she randomly stopped and wrapped her little arms all the way around my waist and buried her face into my tummy. she looked up at me and said, "you smell really good." then, immediately snuggled back in for the rest of the hug. i responded with, "that's the best compliment i could receive after a day in our sweaty classroom."

just one example of the kindness and love shared by this class.
